Our School Tour
On the 17 th of June, 5 th and 6 th class went on a mystery school tour. We went to the National World War I & II Museum in Collon, Co. Louth. We met at the school at 8:30 to be on the bus for 9:00. It took about 2 hours to get there.
When we got there we were brought into a room where we talked about who was in the first war and second war. Then our guide showed us clothing that was worn in the wars and we compared them and some of us got to try them on. Then we looked at all the weapons that were used in the war. They were really heavy and we all had a go of holding it.
After we were finished up in the room we went outside to have our break and play in the playground. When we were finished our break we were showed how the soldiers lived in the trenches, how they built the trenches and why the trenches were made. Then the teachers were able to fire a gun that was so cool and we all wanted a go.
When we were finished we went into a World War tank and that was so cool because we went really fast and it was really fun. After we did that we had our lunch and went to the playground again. After our lunch we went back into the building to meet our tour guide and slit up from 6 th. 5 th went to look at WWI and 6 th went to look at WWII. The tour was very interesting and fun. We paid for our school tour out of our JEP money and went to a good use. It was so much fun and we had a great day.
