Activities

Last year the children of Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st class went on their school tour to KidsZone in Greystones and then they went to Glenroe Farm. They set off from the school at 9am on Friday 26th May with their teacher's Miss Stanley and Miss Byrne. Miss Shannon also offered to spend a funfilled day with the classes so she joined them too. On the way to Greystones the children entertained themselves by singing songs and playing games. They really enjoyed themselves.

Soon they had arrived at KidsZone. Everybody filed off the bus and make their way inside. The children couldn't wait to take off their shoes and jump into the ball pools and play on the slides. After a while they were both tired and hungry from their exertions. Once again it was back on the bus to quickly make the short journey to Glenroe Farm. On arrival they were greeted by a white peacock who was showing off her feathers to full advantage. The children brought their lunches off the bus with them and made their way to the picnic area of the farm. They sat at the tables and enjoyed having their lunch together.

After lunch the children were given a guided tour of the farm by a very kind man called Dave. They met some rabbits, a ginea pig, a fellabella pony, some sheep, pigs and goats. They really enjoyed meeting the animals as some of them were very friendly and came over to talk to the children. When they were finished their tour of the farm they excitedly made their way to the playground. It was their favourite part of the tour:) They happily played on the swings and slides.

Soon it was hometime. Everybody made their way back to the bus. The children were tired but very happy. Once again they sang songs and played games on the way home. However they were much quieter than they had been on the way. Infact some of them had to be woken when we got home. A great day was had by all.

The children of 2nd,3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th went on their school on Monday 29th of May this year. They set off from the school at 8am with their teacher's Mrs. Gallagher and Ms. Mulhall. Miss Tracey also joined them for the day. The children were very happy for that hour of the morning and they spent the time on the bus playing games and singing songs.

Their first stop on their tour was to stop at Dublinia where they learned about Viking Ireland and some of their ancestors. They even got the opportunity to visit the shop and buy items to help them look like convincing Vikings for the next step of their tour. This was a duckboat tour of Viking Dublin onboard a WW2 vessel, which went very slow, but that was a good thing because the children got a chance to frighten some Dubliners (no not by our faces!!!!:) ) but by shouting out insults at them as they drove by.

Both the children and the teachers had a great day and they even managed to learn a thing or two. They arrived back at the school at 4pm where everyone went home tired but happy.
