Four months ago,On the Dwyer square. We had a Christmas lights. There were crowds of people I was surprised that a lot of people showed up because it was -4 degree's outside. We sang loads of songs. It was great fun. I sang songs like Holy night and Only in god. I loved it. We were going to sing the Wexford Carol but we didn't because we did not have enough time. Some children didn't show up.This boy in 5th class called Richard Hennessy dressed up as Santa Claus that night. There was Christmas cheer all around Tinahely. The three schools in Tinahely came they were called Kilcommon, Crossbridge and Tinahely N.S. We were very loud. There was the blessing of the crib by Fr.Gahan and Fr.Minion. I loved it.

The Storyteller Liam Farrel.
1On the 25/3/2011 Liam Farrel came to our school,
Liam Farrel is a storyteller, so therefore had the experience of writing a book, So he came to our school to show us how to write a story,
and the stages of publishing.
Liam's way of writing a story was taking a nursery rhyme, The nursery rhyme he chose was Jack and Jill. The nursery rhyme Jack and Jill was 25 words long. But Liam made it into 4444 words long. How he did that was by adding more characters and explaining how Jack and Jill got up the hill and how they fell down.
Liam has his own books, and are published they are called “The trial of the big bad wolf” and “The retrial of the big bad wolf.” etc.
While we were doing art Liam appeared in our classroom in a wolf costume! Some people were not interested in writing a story,
But in the end everyone was fascinated.
The good thing about Liam was that he was very funny, so everyone had a laugh at one stage. I would reccomand Liam for all ages and for any school that would be interested. After all everyone needs a laugh these days.

SWIMMING IN TINAHELY N.S.

Once a week on a thursday some children go swimming in Carlow Swimming Pool. We travel to Carlow on Fiona Mallick's bus. We leave straight after school every thursday afternoon. It takes a bit less than an hour to get to the pool. There are four teachers all teaching different strokes. There is a shallow pool for small kids to learn the basics. There is a small lane for kids to get used to being in deeper water, just practicing the front stroke. Next there is a pool which you learn the back stroke and then there is a deep end for more advanced swimmers who learn breast stroke, inverted breast stroke, diving and a life-guard course. At the end of every term everyone recieves a certificate to tell you what swim you got. The ranks are... SPLASH!, Swim 1, Swim 2, Swim 3, Swim 4, Swim 5 and Challange 1. And every term we have a big race to see who is the fastest swimmer. The bus usually arrives back at the school at 6 o'clock. A special thanks to the parents association for organising swimming and making this all possible. Swimming days are tiring but very enjoyable.
