Since returning to school the children of 2nd and 3rd class have been going back over their fairytales. Below are some examples of fairy tales that the children themselves have written.

Mother Carey

One day there was a woman. She had two daughter's. One was very lazy and the other was like their slave. You see, only the woman only liked the lazy daughter and the other daughter was her step daughter. Every day her stepdaughter had to sit at a well and spin on her spool of thread until her finger's started to bleed. One day she was spinning with the spool of thread and it dropped in to the well. The woman told her to go down the well and get it. So she bent over the well to see how deep it was and she fell in!! As she was falling she hit her head and fell in to a deep sleep. When she woke up she was in a field she was in a field and saw an oven with bread in it. The bread suddenly called "Take me out. I'm done". She walked slowly over and took the bread out. She looked around in case there any more shouting bread but there wasn't. Instead there was a tree that snarled "Pull us. Pull us." So she walked over and pulled them. She walked on and came to a house. There was a woman looking out the window of the house. She had very big teeth and when she saw them she ran away. The woman shouted "Wait, Stop! Don't be afraid". So she stopped and walked back to her. "I am Mother Carey and I will bring you back if you will be my maid." So the young girl became her maid. Long after, she became a bit home sick. So Mother Carey brought her to a gate where she got covered with gold. Mother Carey said "This is your reward." When she got back to her home the roaster crowed cock-a-doodle-doo. The daughter walked in and when the mother saw her she sent the other daughter so she went but the other daughter did not take the bread out or pull the apples and she was not that helpful to Mother Carey either so she was sacked and when she came to the gate she got covered in tar and the mother was not very happy.

Rapunzel

A long long time ago in a little house there lived a girl and her husband. The girl longed for a child. There was a big wall near the house with a little window. She saw a beautiful garden. There was a big cabbage in the middle of it. She longed for a bit of it. She said to her husband "I will die". He heard her words. He went into the garden. It was owned by an enchantress. He got a lump of every thing and brought it back to his wife. She wanted more of it so he went into the garden again. But to his horror the enchantress snarled at him. "You tresspasser!!!" "Oh witch of the woods do not kill me. My wife just wants some of that nice plant" he said. "Ok you can have some fo my plants if you give me your child or I shall kill you". "Here is the plant wife". "Wife what's wrong?" he asked his wife as she was crying when he returned. "I am having a baby" she said. As soon as she had said the words the witch appeared. "Ha ha ha give me your child". She took it and went. She called her Rapunzel. She was so beautiful that the witch locked her in a tower in the forest. One day a prince on his horse was walking through the wood. He heard Rapunzel's sweet music. Rapunzel had never saw a man before. Then the wicked witch came. The prince heard the old woman say "Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down you long golden hair. As Rapunzel heard her she let her hair down. It was so longit could touch the ground. The witch climbed up. Then the prince climed up too. Rapunzel was frightened but the prince calmed her down. He told her how he loved her songs. Then he said every day bring me a spool of thread and I will weave a ladder. Then we will run away. But one day she told the witch. The witch cut all her hair off and put her in the desert. Then when the prince came up the next day he did not find his dearest love. He found the witch and she told him that his dearest love was dead. He jumped out of the castle. Two thorns stuck into his eyes for two year and he was blind. But then he heard his true love. She and he cried and two of her tears droppped on to his eyes and he could see again.
